Looks like a new manufacturer has entered the carburetor game. 500 CFM four barrel that looks an awful lot like a Carter AFB/Edelbrock Performer.

Click ME

From the website:

Essential Performance

500 CFM square-bore flow for efficient small-block power
1.0-inch venturi maximizes airflow velocity
1.25-inch throttle bore enables precise throttle control

User-Friendly Design

Electric choke for instant cold starts
Single-line fuel inlet simplifies installation
Non-adjustable calibration for plug-and-play reliability

Compact Solution

Ultra-low 3-inch height fits restricted engine bays
Square-bore flange for universal intake compatibility
Solid-state construction (no replaceable jets/rods)

Yeah, I laughed at the "non-adjustible calibration for plug-and-play reliability" in the "User Friendly Design" description. Looks like a carb designed to scam people who don't know much about carburetors.

They admit it is competing against the 500 CFM Edelbrock AVS2 carburetor, with price being the main reaosn to buy the "Evil Energy" version.

For me, this is a hard pass, given the fact I can get AFBs and Edelbrock Performers for around $50. I would rather have a name brand carb that can be tuned and for which spare parts are available than a cheaper knock-off that cannot be tuned. The only interesting feature of this knock-off is the glass sight plug in the float bowl. But that begs the question- if the carb has a non-adjustable calibration, why do you need to see the float level?

Looks like they also sell Holley knockoffs.

My advice is buy a used old carb and put your money towards something else.

Yes, Non adjustable will work good for all engines in all sizes. Always in calibration, of some sort! :D :D And not that great a price anyway! $300 for an aluminum paperweight. I think I can do better.

That is not what "solid state" means.

This has carburetor-shaped pile of scrap from Chinese trinket factory with no engineer of any kind within driving distance, hyped up to sound like an upgrade written all over it. Shame on them, but whoever buys this garbage almost deserves the loss of their money – up front and on an ongoing basis as they run around on a fool's errand trying to make this work.

Maybe it has solid state jets where the fuel is metered through solid germanium at the molecular level?

Now that I work in the administrative law field, I thoroughly enjoy Dan's frankness and directness, in no small part because I know he has the goods to back up his opinion.

This is still the preeminent slant six info source in the world.

The problem with the knock offs, is that commonly available replacement part for the original carburetors will most likely not work, and that the carburetors bodies are not coated to resist alcohol contamination. They have a life span of about 2 years before the "white carb death" starts to form, rendering them useless.
