I got a BBD from Amazon before I realized that these are not good carbs (according to Dan S.). It ran rich and I was not able to get any adjustment from the idle air screws. Turning them in did nothing.

So I dug through my stash and came up with a decent carb from about the 70s and rebuilt it. It seems to run OK and the idle adjustments are working, but I have a question about the carb base gasket.

I saw a video on the Internet (I can't remember where) that talked about the 2 kinds of base gaskets, one with "notches" and one without. He said that if the carb has the notches in the base, you use the gasket without the notches. If the carb doesn't have the notches, use the gasket with the notches.

What say you all? True or not? And if I use a notched gasket with a notched carb, (which is what I did) would that make it run rich?

Thanks for any info guys.
