The radiators are very close to the same length and width. Even the mounting places are the same. The current aluminum radiator is 2 1/2” thick, whereas the Honda core is 9/16”!

I will save another few ounces and quite a bit of thickness by swapping the fans.

The Honda radiator only holds 32 ounces of water and the hoses will be significantly smaller as well, so that’s more weight savings.

This is the “Hood Scoop Evolution” of the Challenger.

1. Original scoop when I bought the car from Norm Foster.
2. Big cowl induction scoop for what I hoped was better aerodynamics and air flow to the intake.
3. Smaller, lighter scoop I’m putting on now.

The original scoop wasn’t sealed at all to the intake and was completely open along the back edge of the hood. It was a cool Mopar style, but I felt it could be better functionally. You could see the hood flexing and trying to fly off as you went down the track!

I was happy enough with the big cowl induction scoop, but it was tall and heavy. I had to use that big of one to cover the hole left by cutting off the original scoop. I ain’t learned to do fiberglass repair yet…

I’m back on the Challenger fun now. I’ve adjusted my expectations on modifying the roll cage. It’s too much work to accomplish with my very limited time and talent. I did remove about 2 1/2 lbs from the roll cage. The major surgery can come later when I hopefully have more time and talent.

As I was crawling around in the Challenger today (not as easy as it was when I bought it almost 15 years ago!).

The fresh air vent near the driver side C pillar is still there. Kinda cool. I’m gonna leave it and suffer the few ounce penalty.

I had to adjust my expectations on some things, as usual. Still hoping to be ready for Clay City.

I did modify part of the roll cage and saved about 2 1/2 lbs there. I’ll save the big cage modifications for next time.
