Looks like we have a new national champion. Dale Rose took out Rodney Hargis in the finals for the win at St. Louis and took the championship. Everyone thought after the race they were tied but Sunday morning Dale and Rodney started adding up points and throwing away what they had too and looks as though Dale squeezed out the win.

Congrats goes out to Dale, he is one heck of a racer and a great guy!
Good work nailing down the National Championship! :D

Does anyone know how many SL6 cars were at Monster Mopar?

Congrads Dale! You are the man. Enjoy your well earned Championship. Oh by the way your car will not only have that "number one" decal on the window next year, it will also have the big BULLS EYE on the door. See you at the Banquet in Pigeon Forge in January.

Big congrats to Dale Rose. It was a nail biter 'til the end, which is great.

Many kudos to Rodney for a fierce footbrake season too!

Lou

READING THIS ARTICLE REGARDING RODNEY AND DALE COUNTING UP POINTS SUNDAY AFTER THE RACE AT ST. LOUIS AND SEEING THAT DALE WAS THE WINNER COULD NOT BE FARTHER THAN THE TRUTH. IT IS INTERESTING TO ME THAT EVERYONE HERE SEEMS TO KNOW THE RESULT OF THE 2004 POINTS SERIES EXCEPT POSSIBLY ONE VERY IMPORTANT PERSON THAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT (RODNEY). I SEEN RODNEY TODAY AND HE HAS NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE RESULT OF THE POINTS DECISION. HE THINKS ITS STILL A TIE AND I WONDER WHY NOONE HAS CONTACTED HIM HERE AT A WEEK OUT. IM VERY INTERESTED TO KNOW HOW THE DECISION WAS MADE, COULD SOMEONE FILL ME IN?

I FOLLOW THE SLANT SIX RACING YEARLY AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IMPRESSED BY ONE RACER IN PARTICULAR. RODNEY HARGIS IS JUST ONE ALL AROUND GOOD GUY AND A DARN GOOD RACER. SEEING HIM RACE LIKE OLD SCHOOL UP AGAINST THESE BIG TIME CARS AND BE SO CONSISTENT IS MIRACULOUS. HE HAS LEAD THE POINTS THROUGHOUT THIS SEASON THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME WHICH IS QUIET IMPRESSIVE WHEN YOU KNOW THE CHALLENGES HE FACES WITH A FATHER WHO IS SO VERY ILL AT THIS TIME. HIS DAD HAS BEEN UNABLE TO ATTEND FOR SOME TIME DUE TO ILLNESS AND HAS REALLY BEEN UPLIFTED TO SEE HIS ONLY SON BE SO SUCCESSFUL THIS YEAR. I KNOW THEY HAVE BOTH BEEN SO LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING THAT CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR.

Dale won 3 41 point races and 1 31 point RU + 4 entry points. Total 158

Rodney won 2 41 point races and 2 31 point RU + 4 entry points. Total 148

It is the total of your best four races out of all the events.

Bob

Rodney had a great year and he is one good racer. When you beat him you can always say the race was close. No one is more determined than he is to win. Rodney is a racer, he will be back next year and as always a contender to win it all. Dale has been close for three years in a row and this year after all the rounds of competition he put the most points in his column. 2004 Champion Dale Rose.

I raced beside Dale (for a tenth as he wizzed past me) at the Pittsburgh race. I have a great deal of respect for the time effort practice and money he has invested in his car. It's all to the betterment of slant six racing by showing that a slant six powered car can run 11's and faster.

If Rodney was that close to Dale in points, it doesn't take anything away from his season to be beaten by such a tough challenger.

They are both pivital to the betterment of the slant six bracket.

Don't expect me to dial in .4 off my time again next year Dale.

Spoke with Seymour last night and the points ended as follows.

Dale had two 41 point wins, one 41 point RU at CC and one 31 point RU.
Rodney had two 41 point Wins and two 31 point RU's.

The determining race was Dales RU at Clay City. This was a 51 point race and Dales RU was worth 41 points.

Congrat to both racers on a great season and I am sure they will be back next year stronger than ever.

Tom
