Ok, rebuilt head, ported and polished. New pistons (40 over), rings, crank, valve springs, oil pump, cam (mild street) , lifters, timing chain and gears, carb. Got it on the stand and almost ready for paint. Give me the skinny on valve lash and timing for a flawless start. Maybe 2 or 3 weeks from giving it the juice. 225 .. '74 Scamp with a freshly rebuilt 904 tranny. My sons car BTW.

Valve lash depends on the nature of the "mild street" cam (whose/which grind?), but setting the intakes to 0.012" and the exhausts to 0.024" cold will get things started just fine. Static distributor timing of 5 degrees BTDC is a fine starting point.
