Are any of the Georga area racers going to Silver Dollar Raceway next weekend (oct 30 & 31)? Just got a flyer from them, and am thinking of going. If some others will be there, I will probably come up. 1/8 mile racing.

Hey Charrlie,
It looks like it was a No-Go on the Silver Dollar race back in October, huh?

I was just looking through older posts and saw this one. I wish I could be there to race with you. Maybe if I had had more time with the youth group and we had gotten further along on our projects they would be going down there occasionally.

They email me and say that they go over and crank up the GodsRods Duster once in awhile. Too much drama for them to try and tow it down there and race it though I guess. Now that they have my other two cars ('72 Dart with 318 running 14s and '89 LeBaron GTS running 15s) the 17 second Duster loses a little of its appeal. They just enjoy cranking it up and hearing it rumble with open headers!

I'll be back down there in that neck of the woods again someday and we'll start us a lower Georgia / upper Florida regional series or something. It's really too bad that the Nationals at Silver Dollar and the Nationals at Bristol look they will conflict from here on out. That's a tough call for me being in North Georgia. I think maybe I ruffled a few feathers last year by offering a purse at a race that conflicted with Bristol.

I bet that Matt and his family are making races at Silver Dollar on a regular basis. I wonder if they pulled out any of those other Slant 6 cars they were talking about. It sure would be neat if you went to the Nationals there next year and saw several local racers with Slant 6 cars running.

No one answered the post, so I didn't go. As for the nationals, in May, I am planning on going. It is the only race I am "planning" on in 2005. Any others will be decided on a few weeks before. This year the nationals are not in direct conflict with any other races. But it would make races on consecutive weekends. But there are other races on consecutive weekends. I know others that will be going, from this area. Don't know what car I'll be taking, at this point. Maybe DW, will make it again this year.

I'll be trying to keep tabs on things from here. I wish I was there. I'd be more than willing to put together something for a Slant 6 Race.

I wonder if any of the Paradise Crew are going to Silver Dollar since it's so close. Even though it is consecutive weekends. If Dale is planning on going, maybe he'd be willing to contact Lawrence Roundtree at the Moparts Connection and get something going. I know Lawrence is very receptive.

It would be pretty tough for me to try and put a race together from 6,752 miles away  :D
