Hi guys great forum!!
I was wondering if there are any over drive opitions for early model 904's?
I have an australian (DAY!!!!) ap5 slant with a push button and would love to keep it original if at all possible, are there any choices??

I found an article at www.allpar.com or www.valiant.org stating that there's a canadian trans shop that makes an adapter for A500 - A518 OD auto trans so they can be cable operated. I don't recall the name or adress but it's out there. Try looking for torqueflite articles. Good luck!

The plate to put a A500/518 behind your Slant is at www.arengineering.com. I have one of these on my '68 Dart (like your Valiant) and an A500. No PB shifter though. The plate works beautifully and is only about 10lbs.

Can you guys please enlighten me as to what the 500/508 transmissions are and what cars they come from? I am the proud owner of two 3 speed 904 automatics, but was curious about getting and overdrive. But it sounds like I have to get a completely new transmission to do this? =(

Humor the luddite and enlighten me. Ignorance is just plain lame.

MJ

The A500/A518 are found in '89-up Dodge trucks and vans. They are larger and longer, so putting them in a car not originally so equipped requires floor pan mods. They are also not nearly as bulletproof as the 727 and 904.

Gear Vendors might make an 904 O/D adaptor but it would cost more than
any of my vehicles are worth..

The Owner of this company

http://www.imperialservices.net/Imperia ... 0Parts.htm

Is a member of the 82 to 65 Mopar Page and was working on a conversion from PB to linkage style trans. Not sure if he's ready to sell yet or not.
