I got the lower ball joints for a 62 and put them in one of my 61 valiants.
They fit into the backing plates okay. The ball joint stud appeared to be the same diameter and taper. The arms have the same length and angle.
The outer tie rod hole is bigger - so I also put in 62 outer tie rod ends.
I also had to use the thinner 61 castle nuts to get the cotter keys through.

Does anyone have experience with this swap? Anything else I should
check to assure it is roadworthy before driving it down to the alignment shop?

Contact Eatkinson, he has a 60 with this set-up & was looking for the original screw in type arms. He might be able to shed some light on the situation.

I did the exact same thing with my 60 Valiant when I swapped to the K-H disc setup, there was no problems with the alignment but I havnt really driven it(I will upgrade to a 62-66 k- frame and steering box when all of the parts are located).I think that this set will work fine though.

This 61 had press in lower ball joints - Maybe they were replaced before?
The right parts (both with and without the arms) are available from RareParts and AutoZone resells those parts also. My penny pinching
side is just showing. The 62 lowers are half the price of the 61 lowers.

I think this setup will be okay - I will get it aligned and drive it for a month
keeping a careful watch on things and see how it does.

It drives around the driveway fine!

What I meant to say was that I used the 62 up lower ball joints on my conversion, both my 60 and 61 had press in lower lower ball joints originally.

Interesting...how'd you make 'em fit? Weld or ??? The '62-'72 lower balljoints shouldn't fit the '60-'61 lower control arms. Maybe you swapped in '62-up control arms?

I'm confuzzed...

I removed the the lower balljoint and steering arm from the 60 lower control arm and replaced with lower balljoint for a 70 Dart with disc brakes ...no welding required. The only difference I found was that the outer tie rod ends needed to be changed to 62 up also as the 60-61 are smaller.
What would I have welded?
