I think most people who put a 4 barrel on a stock slant six do it because they think it looks cool (it does) and/or they think it will be some kind of magic performance panacea...

I agree. You'd be better off with a Super6 intake and a rejetted 2 bbl...it's ALOT cheaper, you don't have do deal with the quality/hassle issues of certain aftermarket companies, and you'll gain almost the same performance.
