Any ideas where I can get the radiator coolant recovery bottle for my 74 Scamp? I got the oil pan back on after replacing the oil pump, pick up tube and getting everything cleaned. Now, I discover that my recovery bottle is history, along with the radiator, too! Any help would be appreciated.

There are many sites over the internet in which you can find the part. A few ideas are www.moparts.com, www.nationalmoparts.com, www.yearone.com
But my favorite always has been eBay.
For sure you will find it there... just search in eBay motors and there will come up several options of NOS parts, original used parts or even nice reproductions.

I got a billet BeCool catch can on ebay for 50 bucks, beats the plastic one, and allows you to fill it up anytime you want. There are some good knockoffs as well.

I put a $3 kids bicycle water bottle on my Duster - modified the cap to run the overflow hose in, put a small vent hole near the top. Mounted the holder to the side of the radiator. Holds 20oz. (16 required to pass tech at track), silver and sez "Bell" on it, so it even looks like it belongs on a car!

I have a spare coolant bottle if you still need one.

If you wanna go the cheap route, my brother couldnt race one time at LACR without a catch can, his buddy was drinkin a beer....they hooked up the beer can to the top and put a hose that another guy gave him at the track and rested it on the battery tray.

Speaking of coolant reservoirs, do any of you have some nifty ideas for cleaning up the nasty gunky 30-year old plastic bottles, to make them more presentable in a newly finished engine bay? I have a decent bottle, but it is totally ugly.

Yeah, Jerry. I'd like to know any secrets anyone has, too. I have found one, but will need a lot of cleaning. I guess we need to be careful what cleaners are used so as not to damage the "plastic". Maybe just good old Comet and elbow grease? Anyone have any recommendations?

I have tried white gasoline (at least it is called like that in Mexico, not sure in the US), it is a light transparent solvent that cleans rubber and plastic very well with no further damage to the material. The big problem here is that my bottle is original and has over 30 years of age. It already turned yellowish and I believe that is irreversible. But white gasoline works fine to restore as much as it is possible.

I don't know exactly what your white gas is, but I have heard Coleman camping fuel referred to as white gas. I have an extra broken reservoir that I'll try it on and report my results.
