Heres a shot from my engine compartment.

She still runs, I havent touched a thing on her for almost 8 months, still runs like a champ, Daily driver 87 octane. The only muscle car on the road it in So Cal. with these gas crunches. Oil change every now and then.

Why did you relocate your oil filter?

I got tired of bathing my suspension in oil at every oil change. One of the bad designs ma Mopar did with this engine. Other is hiding the distributor so low.

Just one of the upgrades I did when I rebuilt the motor last. Filter is a lil cooler, maybe dropped the temperature of the oil via the stainless lines a little, who knows.

Its a quality investment.

Do you want the spot on the radiator support where the filter mounts or down below by the engine block? I got my kit from Earls, Fram makes one, I have a Hayden im going to install eventually in my 69 Charger but she has a big block

Wow, nice engine... hope mine looks like that.

The oil filter relocation is a great idea... I have no mechanical experience but will do the same soon. Way to go 8)

Pyper, in your first photo I could see that the starter motor is smaller than stock... am I right?, If so, where can I find one of those, who makes it and what's the model?

Thanks,

Ed

They are plastered all over ebay, I bought this particular model for 100 bucks off if there. Its the same for all /6,A,LA,B,RB motors. I have the same exact one on my 440. I believe its a nippondenso starter. Had it for about....4 years, never given me a problem. Fires right up too, its a Hi torque starter. Same as the one MP tries to sell but for more money

Thanks, I'll check that out. I plan to install Dutra Duals in a near future and the clearance of my current starter motor was a real issue.

Ed, you can also use the starters off any '89 up V6 and V8 truck or van. Save money (if your cheap like me) and get one from a wrecking yard. They clean up easily, and you can paint the center piece black to look brand new. The only think to go out on them are the soloniod contacts, an easy, 1/2 hour fix (I recently did it myself). Kits should be available from your local parts store, as Nippondenso starters are also used on Honda's, Mitsu's, Toyota, etc and the contacts are the same (with the exception of one contact. A rebuild kit should have all the contacts in it).

Pyper, I never get tired of drooling over your engine! Does the filter relocation kit affect oil pressure any?
