it wasnt working when i first got it but all it needed was a new battery and then it started to choke... after that we sprayed some carb cleaner and then it started to spit and it started.. a couple days after that i rebuilt the carb. its a double carburator because the other owner rebuilt the manifold and added a double instead of the single probabbly wanted more of a pull. its running pretty good now.. but in the morning it takes for ever to heat up and when its in neutral and i push on the gas smokes comes out the exhaust.. smoke doesnt come out when im driving though.. i got it some new spark plugs and wires are there specific wires and plugs i should get for performance wize? and how about a good exhaust wat kind should i get? plz i need your help thx this car is ready to break peoples necks

 Holy crap you just blasted through at 80MPH! Slow down a bit, let's get your car running right before we start tacking all the stuff in the JCWhitney catalog on.

What kind of carb(s) is your car equipped with.

okay, well, let's start with the smoke. What color is it, white, blue or black?

Sounds like your carbs need to be rebuilt OR they are out of adjustment. You probably have dual Carter BBS setup on a twin carb Offenhauser intake. I wonder if the chokes are even hooked up.

But seriously get this sorted out before you spend any more money on performance goodies. You have a few really good slant six peole in your area, I don't know how far Doctor Dodge is to you but you are going to need to learn a lot about those carbs if youre going to set it up yourself. Best bet is to see if anyone is in your area and maybe they can come over and work on your car with you. Cause before you know it I will have written three pages of info on how to do it and you will be fast asleep. Good luck :)

It sure sounds like it.

Who rebuilt them and did they just give them back to you or put them on and set them up for you?

the car is running and it actually ran better after they rebuilt it. now when i push the gas i can punch it and it moves smooth now. if i punched it before i had them rebuilt the car would probably shut off or would want to kinda turn off and lagg

alright, well the warmup problem might be a problem with the choke, or the manifold might not be getting hot. Do you have headers on the car or is your exhaust manifold the regular cast iron one?

I dunno about the white smoke, head gasket maybe? Wait a minute, is this smoke only when the car's cold? Is it cold outside too? I dunno about Cali but I thought you guys had snow somewhere around there this winter...

I want a free Dart :(

I could've gotten one for 700 last year, but had to cop out because the insurance company wanted too much to cover it. Then there was the prospect of getting it from (I think) Illinois to Washington...
