Has anyone got problems using ATF in power steering? The manual tells not to use ATF in power steering. The guy who owned the car before me used ATF. I changed the Chrysler power steering fluid in the reservoir but some ATF remained, fluid beeing now slightly red. It smels burned but it haven't leaked. I have driven about 20k after I changed the fluid. Should I flush the system? Chrysler power steering fluid costs a lot here in Finland (about 20 dollars/quarter), so is it okay to use ATF instead.

I would not use ATF in my power steering pmp unless it is specified, like on my 75 Ford, it uses Type F ATF. Just go to any parts place and get a bottle of plain-jane power steering fluid (NOT stop leak). It does'nt always have to be Chrysler made to work, unless it is heat control valve solvent.
