Im gonna be installing new valve seals in my wifes 63 Dart this weekend and have never done this while the head was installed on the engine or the engine in the car.I have the air hose that threads into the spark plug hole and a on the head valve spring compresser , Is there anything else I need and does anyone have suggestions for this job?
Thanks in advance.

I did mine w/o air just by bringing pistons up to top and pushing a 1/4" diam rope in the plug hole to hold the valves up.

You may have to tap on the spring/keeper assembly to get the lock to disengage after the spring is compressed. I also did one valve at a time to keep all parts matched up. Not sure if that's necessary.

Valve seals may not cure oil burning if the guides are worn. Just a warning.

Thanks Lou, most of the valve seals in this engine are almost completely cracked in two so I was gonna try the seals first,I figure that it cant hurt.It only smokes during startup and hard acceleration.
Thanks

Thought I posted to this yesterday. Put some rags in the lifter galley area, so any wayward keepers, cannot fall down there. If your luck is like mine, at least one keeper will fall in there, and go down through one of the drain holes into the pan. :(

Thanks Charlie,I had actually thought about a shop towel or somthing in the lifter area as my luck somtimes goes south.
Lou,I have friend that is considering a Megasquirt to replace the fried computer in his early eighties Jag XJS sedan and he was wondering if he could e-mail you with some questions and concerns he has after I told him about your slick little 64 Dart. Would it be ok for him to e-mail ????
Thanks again

My time is pretty limited, but I guess that would be OK. Wouldn't it be better if he just posted them here so everyone can see the results?? I would prefer that.

T hats cool Lou,I just didnt know how the board would take answering questions pertaining to a Jag but I guess MS is a MS no matter what its on so Ill just have him post here.
BTW,the valve seals were installed without a hitch and everything is right again. All but on of the intake seals fell aprt when I removed them but I guess that will happen after 42 years.
Thanks Again
