Well the Lancer has finally gotten a little lovin' since we've been hectically readying ourselves for the trek west. A big THANK YOU to Doug Dutra for recommending Jim Cox to me. He's a wonderful guy that is literally 2 miles away from me. He lives and breathes the slant six and I spent several hours with him this week working on my new head that he is going to port and polish up for me.

Jim has a treasure trove of slant parts just lying around, and he gave me a nice tour of the facilities. We then had a few beers, pulled the head apart, and he and his neighbors oogled my car just enough to make me feel good. They did offer to weld the rear doors shut, but I respectfully declined ;-)

Anyway, recent updates to the Lancer are:

--new front belts
--KYBs all around (I think its a bad sign when you compress the rear shocks and expand them effortlessly by hand?)
--new 14x6 Cragars SBP with 215/60 BFGs
--small dash tach that reassured me my engine might *sound* like its spinning up to 4000 rpms at 60 mph, but in actuality its only about 2800

Projects on the horizon for this summer
--SBP discs up front
--.87 Torsion bars (once I get a good set!)
--'62 225 swap out for the current 170 with Dual intake and Dutras, mild cam, new timing set, and '68 head ala Jim Cox
--fixing the darn gas gauge that keeps leaving me high and dry with no gas!

I think that should keep me busy!

Awww, look at the little 170, its so Cute!!

Who sez you need a gas gauge, just keep a can in the back.

Why did they want to weld your back doors shut?

Does your car have seat belts?

The more I see them '60-'62 Valiants and Lancers, the more I like them! The wheels alone change the whole character of the car...looks really good now. 8)
