Hello, looking to purchase a 1965 225 3 speed manual tranny, does the crank shaft have any special bushings that need removal before installing? It's going in a 62 904 push button car. Everything else should bolt , it's coming from an A body so the oil pan is ok. Thanks !!!

Everything should swap right over. (as long as the 65 engine has never been "messed with")

On a 170 to a 225 swap, the exhaust header pipe will move up appx 1 inch and may bang on the cars floor, add a spacer right at the flange as an e-z fix. You will need a new fan belt for the 225 (longer)

Getting the taller 225 under the 62s heater box is tough so be sure to remove the plastic/fiber cover to make life easy.

Some of the early air cleaners on the 170s hit the hood if used with
a 225 - Just check the hood clearance before slamming the hood the
first time. If you use the 65 air cleaner it should be fine.

Guys thanks for the info, fairly sure it's an original & the guy is more than willing to help on shipping/crating. Hey Rust-C do you want the 170 a piece at a time or the whole boat load!! I probably won't install until necessary- but it's always better to have the parts needed before the job begins. Later
PS--- the engine is coming from the land of none other than Mike Jeffries(sp), Nebraska, maybe that's good karma. For those of you who don't race he is the Buzzin half dozen racer that defies logic in his super fast slant powered valiant!! My son & I got to check his ride out last Topeka Mopar show (October 2004) & are looking forward to this year's event

Dennis Weaver is going to rebuild a newport, so we can use it as the boat it is, so send it to him, and he will do the rest.

How interested? Contact me. I have a cherry 170 block that will only be here until mid June. 34k grandma miles on it (not joking). I'd love to work something out so I don't have to haul it to California. I was going to ebay it once I swapping the 225 out, but if you're willing to come out here to Ohio (its about 7 hours from DC, maybe a little less) we can do something.

lemme know. I do need the oil pan (or a replacment 225 pan and pickup)

Doug's wife will love you for getting yet one more oil pan and pickup out of the garage/yard when you get to California.
