Hi everyone:

Just ordered a PST (rubber) suspension kit for my '68 Dart 270, 4-dr sedan. Also ordered KYB shocks for the front. (Rear suspension rebuild comes later).

I know there are a million possibilities, but I'm looking for opinions on tires. The car came with 14x6 mag rims on the front.

I need something for regular street use, and I pull a heavy popup camper, so handling stability is important.

It currently has a well used set of Cooper P215-60-R14 on the front.

Any thoughts?

To me the size is correct maybe go to a 215-70-14 which is a little taller.(better clearance)

But as far as what brand you can go to a site called www.tirerack.com and punch in your size tire and get reviews on tires from customers.I have bought tires from them for a very nice savings,delivered to my door.

Personally, I won't go back to anything taller than 60 series tires. 215/60-14 is an excellent choice for your Dart on those rims. I have run 215/60s and 225/60s on my 68 for years and love them. 70s will give you a smoother ride, but more flex and worse handling. There are always 15, 16, 17" rims/tires too... (keeping lid on worm can)

I was asked by PM about my "worm can" comment.

I just meant that there are infinite options for 15+ wheels/tires and I can discuss at length if people have specific questions.

I have 16x8s on my 64 Dart, 14x7s on my 68 Dart, 17x8s on my 66 Valiant. All work well to varying degrees.

I like 235/60r14....with 8" rims. You need the shocks and suspension that will go with them though. I wouldn t do it without a stout swaybar.

nope, those are lbp 17x8 mustang wheels. actually relatively cheap at around 140 bucks each. new american torque thrusts that size are like 250 each. those brakes are ar engineering specials. andy f. makes the hubs so you can run a wheel with that much offset and still look right. i had to use 3 inch wheelstuds and 1 inch spacers on the rearend until i can find one from and b-body. it's all still untested at this point (and will be for a while) but things are looking good!
