I am looking at a Unilite distributor that just recieved from slant6dan.

On the stem there is a cam shaped piece held with 2 allen head set screws. Is this used with original distributor hold down clamp? Or is there something else I need to fit this in?

I don't want to pull my old dist without having everything ready to put the Unilite in.

Does your stock distributor have a sheetmetal hold-down bracket with a slotted hole for the bolt that holds it into the block? If so, transfer that to the UniLite. If not, you need such a plate (some of the later \6s have a V8-like arrangement with the block hold-down bolt holding a V-claw-shaped hold down bracket, which bears against a ring on the distributor body).

I have the v / claw type hold down with a bolt that clamps onto a ring on the dist. I haven't seen the other hold down set up. If I had a photo I'd understand it better, and, if I had to, make one up. Can any one shoot a photo of this set up and email it to me?

I'm at jwl540@hotmail.com

I haven't tried it, but I bet that ring bolted onto your stock distributor will also bolt to the cam-shaped piece on the Mallory, then you can use your stock hold down claw.
