74 Scamp Slant six with a Holley 5200 here. Not sure where the cannister purge connects to the carb. This isn't a stock carb. I have one unused vac input on the carb which has vacuum on it at idle. I also have an extra port on the carb base. The bowl vent and tank lines are connected correctly.

There are two different kinds of charcoal cannister: The kind that has three large fittings:

-TANK
-CARB (or BOWL)
-PURGE

and the kind that has these three large fittings and one small fitting. Which kind do you have?

"BOWL" or "CARB" goes to the carb bowl vent fitting.

"TANK" goes to the fuel tank.

"PURGE" you should hook up to the unused large-diameter nipple on your carb, if it has vacuum above idle.

There needs to be a canister purge valve that only opens when the engine is above idle. Some canisters have these built in (looks like a round "flying saucer" atop the canister itself), but many do not, including Mopars after '72 and most late-model ones in which purging is controlled by the computer via a solenoid. Fortunately, standalone purge valves are readily available. NAPA Echlin # 2-28011:

Small fittings gets teed to the vacuum advance hose (which should have no vacuum at idle, full vacuum above idle)

Big fittings go inline with "PURGE" hose from canister to PCV hose.

The reason there's no purge valve on most of the Mopar canisters is that the "purge" port on the original-equipment carburetors were set up so as not to have vacuum at engine idle.

I believe the purge line goes to a T fitting between the PCV and carburetor.
