I don't know how many other people here read Mopar Muscle, but has anybody else noticed they refuse to feature Slant Six cars? They did that buildup a while ago, but I figured they'd at least show a few cars too. It's all cookie cutter small block A bodies. But as soon as somebody slaps an Edlebrock intake and a set of headers on a PU truck, it graces their pages.

Thats not necessarily true. I have seen slant cars in it every now and then. They also cover the Slant six racing series as well.

We just have to live with the facts that slants aren't as popular.

theyve written in there sometime that they like to stay with muscle cars. most people wouldnt put a slant into the muscular category. whats funny though, is they had a car in there, i forget what is was, a 70's charger i think, with a 440, 3.23 gears and it ran a 19 something in the quarter. their excuse fo his time was that he couldnt hook up. whos fault is that? while my car isnt as pretty, i know my super sixed slant would give him a run for his money.

I dunno...they say they like to stick with musclecars, but they have 50's Dodge pickups in there because somebody decided to put a big block in one. Next they'll have motorhomes in the mag.

That car you were talking about was a 71 or 72 Roadrunner with a low compression 440 and open rearend and ran the 1/4 mile in the mid 19's.
That really sucks, especially considering the fact that I have ran an 18 with my 1-barrel Duster and a 16 with my worn out F-150

Sorry, I was thinking of Mopar Collectors Guide in my above post. I just realized it.

We're lucky there are mopar magazines to begin with. Most of the stores around here (grocery, walmart, etc) don't even carry them, they need to make room for all the ford/chevy/ricer stuffs.

Not true! One of my first issues of MCG dealt with the restoration of a 63 Dart GT and were not talking stuffing a small block into it but keeping the slant six as god intended.

In the latest issue if Mopar Muscle they discussed dual exhausts on slant sixes. A guy with a Val wanted to put a set of Dutra Duals on his 225. They said there was no point in putting duals on a stock or mildly modified six. Swap in a V-8 is what they told him.

I spanked a Honda at a redlight today with my Duster. He was MAD when I told him that he had just been beaten by a slant-six 8)

There have been many slant six cars featured in Mopar Muscle........ well, former slant six cars, lot's of people like to do the V8 transplant.
Besides recomending the V8 changeover that Jeb posted, MM has done it to their own feature project car. Current project is 'Valiant Effort', a '68 Valiant, formerly slant six, now 528" Hemi. They may wish they had left the durable slant six in, I saw the Valiant Effort BROKE DOWN on I-75 this past Thursday!!! Looks as if they were going to drive it up to the Mopar show in Bristol Tn I saw them 10 miles S. of I-10. They were on the break down berm, out of the car and calling on a cell phone.

mopar muscle, april '99 is the only one I could find in my slant six backlog of articles.

mopar action on the other hand had at least 6 issues with something useful.

what ever happened to "high performance mopar" and "chrysler car enthusiast"?

I have a few of their back issues and they were okay.

I have nothing against any of the mags, I usually buy both just because they have different advertisers so I have more places to look for parts.

HPM merged with Mopar Muscle and Chrysler Car Enthusiast was forced out of business for not playing ball with Chrysler lawyers.

I would have drove by and yelled, "NOW YOU WISH YOU HAD KEPT THAT SLANT DON'T YA!

Last I remember that Valiant had a 360 in it. :?:

I think you are confusing it with the Flying Green Brick built by the guys at Mopar Action. It had a 360 when it ran One Lap of America.
