Just saved this one from the crusher very clean- never had a dodge before, it ran but stopped running.
im not getting any spark, changed coil,cap rotor,ign. switch and ballast. i have 8vdc on the coil when cranking. is there a particular way to test ballast and install( i hooked up as it was in the car with the jumper on the non notched edge. or maybe the pepboys cap is no good, and it does have a resistor on the coil, coil wire ohms out good, any suggestion would be appreciated

how about the ignition module , it is mounted on driver side in engine

how about the pickup coil in the distributor? when the rotor shaft spinning
there should be about .1 to .4 volts ac on the 2 wires. also the resistance
of that pckup coil should be around 150 to 800 ohms.
that pickup coil has a connector about 6 inches from the distributor.

the p up coil sends a pulse signal to the ignition module which sends the
pulse to the coil , than the ign coil increases the spark voltage and sends
it to the spark wires and spark plug.

How old are the ignition wires? If the coil wire has broken down inside its sheath, it may not carry the current to your distributor.

Check the fusible links by the ballast resistor too.

You should have battery voltage (or very near it) at the coil + terminal while cranking---the ballast resistor is (should be!) bypassed during cranking.

Once the key is let off "start" to "run", current is routed through a second ignition wire, that runs through the ballast resistor, which should drop the voltage to ~8 volts.

ill check all suggestions on sunday, with chucks wiring diagram and my trusty meter i hope the old girl starts., i have my fingers crossed.

i have good spark now, replaced the distributor ignition pickup, But engine floods out real fast, guess im out for a carb rebuild
