Just wondering where people have installed aftermarket gauges so that they're visible, and don't look cheesy........

I also have a '64 Valiant, PB904, etc.
I don't know how cheesy it looks to others, but I put an oil pressure guage under the dash, and painted the bracket to match the dash. With the black rim of the gauge, it sort of blends in.
I've thought about a tachometer, too. A thin tach, not a monster size, dead center, right behind the steering wheel, just so it doesn't block the existing gauges or the view out the windshield. I'm not sure if one exactly like that exists.

I put a mini tach clamped to my column. It's not too big but it works well.

My gauges are installed in pods that are screwed down to the louvers where the original front speaker used to be. They're easy to see, but I don't know if you will like the look.

My interior is in really good shape, that's why I asked about cheesy.....


I was think about making a pod under the steering wheel (also would be a good place for a small tach as it wouldn't block the view of existing gauges). Don't think it would interfere with my legs, but it's hard to tell...

I actually want a clock, so style is a bit limited for matching gauges (that are also somewhat like stock). Plus maybe a tach later that matches....

And most important doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I built a center console for gauges, AC controls and storage.

I was going to put my tach underneath, but I would think you would want to see the tach without taking your eyes too far from the road.

Center is in use with the 2 12v fans (and variable speed controls) I put in because I don't have AC.................. (I got AC without cooling now (better than nothing when stuck in traffic))

I am currently starting a "side business" for custom gauge clusters. So far just the late a-bodies (70-76). these are meant to replace the backing plate in your stock housing, putting whatever size, quantity and type gauges you desire. just tell me what you want and I machine them out.

the pictures were taken on a sub-quality camera (24 MM) and then scanned in, so once I get some good digital ones I'll put them up.

right now I am in the process of machining out some guinea pig clusters to see what is the most user-friendly.

I have a huge chromed Summit racing tach right in the center of my dash pad! its sweet there
