The Pertonix kits 1361a and 91361A to use in the points
type distributors are available many places - one of those is:

Summit Racing (www.summitracing.com)

PNX-1361A, PNX-91361A are summits part numbers.

Summitracing.com has them... but its $88 now on their webpage. For that much you can convert to the mopar EI system and have some money left over....

Pertronix is a much easier install. I recommend it unless it is a dual purpose (street/strip) car.

check out ebay-- someone is selling them for approx $65 delivered-- that's where mine came from 3 years ago

type in pertronix & ask that seller for your style-- I'm sure they will work with you!!

I would also recommend opening up a phone book and looking for a local performance part shop. I am not sure where you are but I was able to find my pertronix cheaper from a local supplier.

Any improvement in performance (power and mileage) would depend on how good your current ignition system is. If you're just putting in the sensor to replace the points, you may not notice anything compared to fresh, properly adjusted points. If you're replacing pitted, worn points, the difference can be amazing. You would notice the same if you just put in good points.
You will get a clean, consistent switching action for the ignition, over a very long time. You will have reduced or removed one more variable in the performance calculations.
Upgrading the rest of the ignition system (coil, wires, plugs) may well improve power and mileage, but there are limits.
The real advantage of Pertronix, from my point of view, is not having to adjust points any more.
Disclaimer: I have a Chrysler electronic distributor and HEI on my slant.

I see, right now i am running a accel high performance coil along with some accel low resistence wires and the original dist w/points. How much would it cost me to upgrade my system and would i make any more power if my current system is in fairly good state?

If you current ignition is in a fairly good state, the pertronix won't get you any more power.


As a side note, the basic pertronix is designed for OEM type coils (coil & ballast resistance), and will burn out if used with a hi-performance coil. The newer higher-peformance pertronix can go either way.

The Pertronix probably won't make any more power, but it should keep that state of tune over a much longer period. The ignition should then perform to spec all the time, not just right after a tuneup.
You can only ignite the mix so much!

i didn't know that. i ran the standard ignitor ignition on my 318 swinger with an accel super coil and msd-6 box for almost a year with no problems. the pertronix website claims it will work fine with their hi-po coil. don't know the specifics of the install though.
