O.k, i'm taking everyones advice, and trashing the 1945 carb soon. Anyone have a 1920, or a BBS for sale? I found some "rebuilt" carbs on ebay, but i'd feel more comfortable getting one from one of you guys if possible. I think the throttle shaft is worn in mine, cant get consistent idle speed, mixture setting, etc., etc., etc., Tried rebuilding it, but still runs like crap! Will be looking for one in a couple weeks. Kinda tapped out on cash right now. :x Thanks guys, Brad

Keeping EGR or deleting it?

Not to drag things off topic, but what is this I hear about emissions testing in the STL area? Around KC we've never had to do it, but now that I'm only an hour from STL, I fear the influence.

First, Brad I know I have two single barrel carbs at least one of which I believe is 1920 (and the other may be a bbs been a while since I did anything other than move them from one side of the garage to the other)that I would be willing to part with, I am sure it would need to be rebuilt. I am in the process of moving and the fewer parts I have to haul the better...even a small carb would be great to get rid of so I dont need to move it. I am located in Edwardsville, IL so if you can come get it this weekend send me a pm and I will get you directions. I might even have the rebuild kit for the carb already, if you have any a-body interior parts for a 72 Swinger we can work a trade so money won't be an issue (and you parts for car you bought two weeks before you move don't count towards adding to the hastle of moving them or at least that is what I have been telling the wife).

Second, CStryker the greater STL metropolitan area (which includes stl, st charles, franklin(south of stl) county and some of the counties on the illinois side) require emissions testing every other year for vehicles, I believe the cutoff date is 25 yrs of age but it may be a specific year. You have two choices, going to one of their facilities for the test or they have on-ramp field screens setup at various places across the city (locations change) that you must pass through at least 3 times for a complete test. I am not sure what else you want to know, but as of yet it is only a STL area thing that I doubt will ever expand to the entire state (or reach Rolla). I can't ever see some of the southern Ozark areas of Missouri ever doing an emissions test, they barely do the vehicle safety inspections with any integrity now.

They are evidently doing a "rolling 25 yrs. and older" do not require emissions testing anymore. I bought my van about 3 mos. ago, took it into the test station, and they told me it doesnt get tested anymore... too old they said
