what is everyone running for a oversize valve???
the 1.70 int 1.44 exh ???does any one make them in a 5/16 or 8mm stem??
i want to try and lighten the weight as much as possible with out to much cost. i called manley and they said they will make me a set at 25.00 a valve
also how big of a bore is required to clear the 1.70 intake or can you go even bigger with the valves???
i'm planing on running a turbo what are you turbo guys running for a piston /what psi boost are you running??

thanks in advance for your help

What size slant are you running. 198,170,225? The airflow req for a 170 are lower than a 225 at the same rpm/boost level. What kind of fuel system do you plan on running carb, mpi, tbi? Precise air fuel mix control is very important on turbocharged cars detonation means holes in pistons. Why would you want to go to extra trouble to lighten the valvetrain do you plan to spin to 8K rpms? Do you plan a blow through with (or without) intercooler or drawthrough. Maybe a methanol injection system instead of intercooling I've been thinking of adding one to my daytonas. It's alot easier to say I plan to turbo my slant than it is to actually plan it out and do it properly.

its a 225 slant , i have a 450 holley and am modifying for blow threw
i have some help from people who have done blow threw set ups before
as far as the intercooler or meth inj. i have not yet decided but am leaning tward meth inj.
ran a intercooler on a freinds blown mustang and it was a pain and gains where minimal
i just want to lighten the valve train if possible to extend its life and reliability
8,000 no was not planing on that, is that even possible with a slant???

I bought the same valves.

SI can make you 6 inconel exhaust valves, $45 each but they can stand the heat of a turbo.

I am working on a turbo setup for my Slant. At first I am going to use my stock engine. I have a set of SI valves 1.70 1.44 that I will use, if the exhaust temps are real high (over 1400) might upgrade to inconel, wait and see? I think its a good idea to stay with 3/8 valve stems, larger stems can transfer more heat away from the valve face/seat.

SEV-2309 AND SEV-2310 VALVES
Me I am putting double springs from schneidercams for a .480" lift cam

for the turbo project I am going to use a 244 cam with some new stock springs

Might I suggest 340 springs with dampers? When you have a boosted engine, the boost pressure is on the back side of the valve, and the pressure, works agains the valve spring pressure. Just doing an approximation, that would be 2 square inches of valve head times 10 psi of boost or a reduction of 20 lbs of spring pressure on the seat. Stock slant springs don't have much on the seat pressure to start with.

I am using 318 valves. They have to be re-cut, but you get 1.78/1.50 instead of 1.70/1.44. I am also using Shivy BB springs.
