has anyone out there successfully mated a slant 6 with a 727 tranny that originally had a V8? I got a hold of the bellhousing adapter but cant see how the flex plate can bold up to the crank without some sort of spacer, once the the bellhousing adapter is on. I am dealing with a 1970 slant six and a 1965 727 tranny.

When the adapters were part of the factory taxi/police package, they came with the small block converter and flex plate. The flex plate adapter consisted of qty 6, p/n 2202472.

You need the center section that goes along with the adapter. Here is a picture of a kit that I used to make to mate a slant to a SB tranny.Image

that spacer is nice but expensive!!! I often see on ebay slant 6 727 bellhousings for $150 (you have to gut your old olne and use the parts on the bellhousing)
