I am looking into buying a remanufactured slant6 225ci for my 1966 Dodge dart 270

it currently has a 270, the original from '66, but it needs a rebuild.

Now as far as remanufactured, I have found engines listed for certain years. what year slant will fit my car, or are all the long blocks the same in relation to mounting in the engine? Which ones will have hardened valve seats for unleaded gas? which years are best? I know materials and parts used internally are the determining factors, along with timing, and intake and exhaust, and load and driving style, etc, etc. But i need a new engine soon, so i can breathe some real life into my old '66 again.

help me please.

That is not the best way to refurbish the powerplant in your car. Remanufactured engines seldom have the performance, reliability or durability of properly rebuilt ones. The two terms are not the same! A rebuilt engine is carefully disassembled, cleaned, inspected, reusable parts reconditioned, consumable parts replaced, etc., by a competent machinist. A "remanufactured" engine is thrown in a bin with many others of the same general type, brutally disassembled, abusively cleaned, and blindly operated on, assembly-line style, by semi-skilled and thoroughly ignorant line workers. An engine swap is a big job in terms of time, effort and money; it's worth it to see to it that it's done right. All the "lifetime guarantees" in the world don't make up for shoddy quality, which is what you almost always get with remanufactured, whether it's a starter, a carburetor or a whole engine.

There are no 270 slant-six engines. 270 is the trim model of your Dart.

Oh, you're wanting a reman engine as a "get by" unit until you can rebuild your own to spec? Just get a good used one, then, rather than spending much more money than necessary on a reman!

www.car-part.com , searchable used auto parts nationwide. Don't know where you're located, but here are a couple of different searches to try:

-1966 Dodge Dart, engine (will get all the '60-'67 engines)
-1973 Dodge Dart, engine (will get all the '68-'80 engines)
-1986 Dodge D100 truck, engine (will get all the '81-'87 engines).

'68 and later engines will work in a '67 or earlier car; if it has an automatic trans you need to use the adaptor ring, which is readily available from e.g. Pat Blais. You wil also need to use your '66 oil pan and pickup tube assembly, and the '66 engine mounts.

Well, kindasorta, but back then they were new castings and the consumable parts weren't cheap low-bid garbage from China.
