I've heard some concerns about the pinion angle of the shorter driveshaft because of the length of the GV unit used in an A-Body. Anyone experienced any issues or heard of any failures?

I imagine that is a possibility, but if you keep the angles equal and opposite, it shouldn't be a problem. 4x4s and heavy trucks run with much bigger angles, even though the driveshafts are longer. The biggest mistake people make is "correcting" the angle at the rear end- IOW shimming the axle so that the pinion points up toward the transmission. That keeps the rear U-joint straight, but does nothing for the front one. When the U-joint angles don't match, you get speed variations at the output of the second U-joint and thats what causes stress. If the angles are equal, then the driveshaft speed varies twice per revolution, but the rear U-joint exactly cancels the speed variations of the front joint, and everything's OK.

I haven't specifically heard/read about any problems cropping up with GVO unts.
