Fellow Slanters,

Lou Madsen and the Project V crew will be lapping and time trialing the infield/track road course at The Rock on Sat/Sun 11/5-6. We'll arrive Fri night and hopefully do some dragstrip test'n'tune, then on the 'course all weekend.

The car is at least 2 seconds faster in the 1/4 (high 14s now), and has lots of other mods since I last drove it on track. Should be an eye opener for the other club members. I hope to be mid-pack in the time trials, assuming I learn the "new" car well. With luck, we'll get a borrowed set of Webers on there and tuned before then (thanks to James Longhurst!).

Come one, come all, and see the Slant 6 storm the track.

Lou

Dude! That ROCKS!! Take it to 'em Lou!

I love seeing a lone Mopar and especially a Slant 6 car mixin' it up with all them "other" fellers and sorta stealin' the show because it's so different.

I loved following the Mopar Action Valiant project in the One Lap of America competition a few years back and Seymour's recent Hot Rod Drag Week competition and seeing Lou's previous write up in Popular Hot Rodding. I had fun racing my '89 LeBaron GTS in SCCA in Atlanta a couple years ago too. It was about the only Mopar out there with the exception of a Neon once in awhile.

You GO Lou!!

Had a sweet track weekend at Rockingham with the Valiant. Was passing about 1/3 of the cars in lapping in the Advanced run group and ended up about mid pack in the time trial (range 1:09 - 1:21). Best time 1:14.1 in time trial, but I'm sure I had faster clean laps at other times. Again, freaked out a lot of BMW, Miata, Z car, etc drivers. Was great having more power and the Falken Azenis tires. Can't wait to try some real racing tires. Buddy Marc TerHorst ran the V to 1:16 TT laps and had a great time on Sunday only.

Also went to the t'n't at The Rock dragstrip on Fri night right across the hwy and ran a best of 14.96@89. Not bad for 3.00 rear gears, 8.7:1 comp, and I think more tuning outta get us to 14.7 or so w/this combo.

James Longhurst came along and was a big help as we had a loose crank/flexplate bolt issue and had to pull the trans back Sat morning before running. Gotta get his Swinger out there sometime. Thanks James!

Leighton and Tom Drake came over all Sunday and hung out. Was great to have them there and they got some cool video and pics.

Cheers,

Lou

Had a fun time watching Lou pass those BMW owners. You know they have to do a double take a when a valiant passes them!

The in car video is fun to watch. I will put it on a DVD and get you a copy Lou. I have some Digital pics that I will email you as well.

Tom
