Hey All,

I am thinking about getting two more bellhousings made up to mate a T5 trans to a Slant.

I am starting with the OD bellhousing used in 70s trucks, vans, F-bodies, etc with the 5.125" bearing retainer hole. These are around in boneyards and come up on Ebay occasionally for about $40.

At one point, Keisler said they could do this and I'm thinking the likelyhood would increase (and price drop) if we had several people on board. My guess is the price would end up $150-250 per.

Another option is we get another machine shop to do it, and costs would be substantially reduced if they only had to set up their machines once.

Please let me know if you're REALLY interested, and if you have a core OD BH to start with. Let me know if you have ideas about other machine shop service ideas too.

I can provide detailed plans on the other parts you need for this swap, but the BH requires the most machining finesse and effort.

Thanks,

Lou

I wouldn't mind having a T5 bellhousing for the future. And lucky I just happen to have a spare OD bell laying on the shelf at home. If you can get a machine shop that can do it cheaper than 150 that would be peachy. My memory is fuzzy but the T5 swaps in with over the counter parts right or is it custom maching on the trans input shaft and things of that sort.

I would also be interested in getting in on this, I am still in the process of trying to track down a core but will hopefully have one soon, won two auctions on e-bay that didnt hit the reserve and haven't gotten a reply from the seller yet, but I will get a core soon.

Lou, you are the man. Count me in, and I have a bell housing in my garage that looks brand new.

Hey Lou, I'd pay up for one, I've been collecting the parts for this a while now. Hopefully get to it this winter.

But I do not have a core BH....

thanks

OK, glad there is some interest here. Keep 'em coming!

Keep your eyes peeled on Ebay and you'll likely find an OD BH before long.

Sandy, I've never seen an OD BH that wasn't aluminum. Seen the old cast iron multi-pattern 4spd BH's, but they have the 4.8" hole.

Hello Lou!
I would jump on this enough to front the cash if needed. I recommend Hamilton's Machine Works which is the place near us I told you about, and I have 2 extra cores with forks I'd let go for what I paid for them and provide invoices to prove the price. BTW, it isn't $40 after adding shipping to that.

Lou, when are you thinking about this happening? Before the end of the year?

Just curious,

Greg

Rock,

That sounds cool on the cores and the machine shop. I assume they're in the phonebook? I'll try to call them and feel them out. There are a couple of other small items to machine for this project they might handle too. Would be great to do it local.

Greg,

Given my schedule, I doubt it before the end of the year. Jan/Feb seems more realistic. If people are really burning for them, then I can try to step it up.

It looks like we have 5 interested plus me, which gives a total of 7 bellhousings. A very good start for a group order.

Glad to see interest here!

Lou

I'm interested, but what about the input sahft length difference - the other (bigger half) of the equation?

Lou - I too would be interested in this project as I haven't yet swapped in my 65 833 into my Valiant. Sold the last core I had so would be looking for a core.
