Welcome onboard.

There were actually many different variants of the slant-6 produced over the years. Looking at the 5th digit in your 1970's VIN (in the lower driver's corner of the windshield) can tell you what engine the car was originally built with, and looking at the car's equipment plate ("fender tag", a rectangular strip of metal about 1-1/2" tall by about 2-1/2" wide secured to the inner fender or radiator support panel, with a bunch of letters and numbers on it) can give a little more information. But, your car is 35 years old, so it may not have its original engine.

The two slant-6 displacements available in '70 in North America were 198 and 225 cubic inches, both with a 1bbl carburetor. The 225 is the more common of the two. The engine ID numbers will be found stamped on a machined pad at the top of the engine block below the number one or number six spark plug—you will usually have to scrape/clean away the grease to find and read it.

Your transmission is almost certainly an A904. It is a strong, efficient and dependable transmission. The heavier-duty A727 was available by special order with the slant-6, but these were usually found only in trucks and police or taxi vehicles.

If you'll post a careful, complete transcription of your car's fender tag, we can help you know what equipment the car was originally built with.

If you "click" the "edit" button, then scroll to the bottom of the page, you will see a box, that says delete. Check that box.

That "O" after the "C" is actually a zero.

Fender tags are read from bottom to top:
