Hi, I'm a new member to the board but I have been visiting for a while though. I have a 1966 Valiant 100, white with tan interior, and only 24,000 miles on the odometer. Everything is completely original right to the cirticard on the fender. I bought it for $700! from my bosses friend who was to old to drive. There is no question this car is getting a 21st century makeover starting with the engine. I have been reading a lot on your site about oversize valves and I have decided on ford 300 valves. My question is who makes stainless racer style ford 300 valves in the 1.78 / 1.60 size? Also has anyone had a problem putting hardend seats in their head for ford valves?
I have already done massive porting work to the head and my plan is to use the ford valves, change the guides to 11/32, use LS1 behive valve springs, and 3.1 chevy retainers for a light weight valve train. For the bottom end I plan on the 2.2 thing because I already have the rods. I am trying to get this sorted out now so I can hit Pacific National Speedway this summer.

Don´t know about the valves, but it sounds like you are after some serious rpm´s???

I´m not saying a lightweight valvetrain is a bad idea, but the slant will always be a "low rpm" engine, until you get really radical, so maybe you would use your $$$ in other places?

Try www.sivalves.com I'm not sure if they have valves that meet your criteria but there are people on here that put those valves in their slants, and they do custom work.

I tried sivalves, the only racer valves were there Port Flow valves, but for the ford 300 they only make oversized 1.94 1.60 with longer stems. I am not sure on thier stock replacement valves even being stainless one piece design. Does anyone have part numbers through Manley or other valve sources for the stainless 300 valves? I was on the manley web site and found ford ''Esslinger" 2300 valves with the right overall lenght of 4.800 with a 1.89 intake and 1.60 exaust in a racer valve the groove is off alittle bit but you can get them custom groved. Has anyone cut these valves down for the /6? Thank you for your reply.

I am going to build a racer first street car second some thing like a 70/30 combination. I am looking for 14.00 and anything better than that on nitrous. As for the cirticard, it looks like a metal credit card that to my knowledge was used to keep track of warranty work done by the dealerships.
