Hi,

Looking at the option list, it looks as if the 68 Darts had only an AM radio available as an option.

Is there a thumbwheel AM-FM that looks similar and will fit?

Thanks - Mac

If there isn't a AM/FM radio available, how about one of those FM converters? I put one of those in my 69 Polara, to keep it "period" correct.
These cars had an option of AM/FM, but I have the original dealer invoice, with an AM radio specified.

There was an FM/AM thumbwheel radio. They were scarce back in the day, they are SUPER scarce and command ridiculous prices nowtimes.

I sent the original radio in my '62 to a guy who installed a tiny FM converter inside. It did not change the appearance of the radio at all, nor did it change the radio's original function. If I want to listen to AM, I turn on the radio and after it warms up (not fully transistorised in '62) I get AM, just like before.

If I want FM, I turn the radio off, then immediately back on. Presto: FM. There are no FM numbers on the radio dial, but that's no big deal, since they're always jabbering about what station I'm tuned to.

I even had the guy do a few other magic tricks: He added a line-in jack and toggle switch, both on extension cables stashed in the glovebox. If I want to listen to something that's not on radio, I open the glovebox, hit the toggle switch, plug in my CD player (or iPod if I had one), hit "Play", and my music comes out the original speaker.

I'm bad, I'm nationwide.
