I did some searches on vacuum but just confused myself from so much info. I just put on ( on my 1966 170 2bbl upgrade ) a super six air cleaner and on the side is a vacuum control for the dist, for now i am running direct from dist to carb but if there is an advantage to using this controll i'll use it. What does it ( the vacuum moduel ) do and why? My distrib is electronic from a 78 volare siper six. Thanks Steve

The original setup on the pollution controlled systems had a vaccuum control valve on it that worked to eliminate or control the amount of vaccuum advance through temperature, or intake temp, pressure...etc..

The "regular" way to do it is just hook the hose from the ported tube on the carb direct to the vacc. pod on the distributor...

Leave it the way you have it (line directly from carb to distributor). If you hook up the thing on the air cleaner, which is called an OSAC valve, your driveability, performance and mileage will all suffer.
