Hello All,

This is my first posting of what I am sure will be many!
While searching the backroads of rural Alabama for interesting cars, I came across a 1960's era stock car that started life as a 1932 Ford 4-door coupe. It had been stripped out, homemade roll cage installed, chopped channeled, modifed to all get out, by a local guy in his back yard. The cool part is he installed a Slant 6 in the car with a set of home made headers made out of pipe, and homemade intake manifold made of 2in. pipe with three single barrel Rochchester carbs on top. It looks cool! (I don't know about the performance!). It is an ole' skool Hot-Rod made in the 60's for the local 3/8mile dirt track. I am going to restore it exactly as I found it.
I have only had the car about two weeks and am trying to identify all the parts.
I looked on the engine list and could not find the number that is cast on my block.
It has three freeze plugs with the number 2202857-5 above this is the number 3 30 and off to the right are the letters DD with CID below them.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.

if its got 3 freezeplugs, its one of the early slant six blocks, in the realm of 60-67. I have a 62 block with 2202857-8 stamped on mine. Not sure what the - 8 vs. -5 stands for, but I think that's got to do with the casting equipment that was used for the block. So I'm guessing yours is early sixties like mine

Your "DD over CID" is actually "DPCD" (with DP on the top, and CD on the bottom; the "P" has an extra-long stem that extends down to form the spine of the second "D"). That stands for "Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler, DeSoto" and was stamped or cast onto or into a great many Mopar parts for *years* after DeSoto disappeared.

Somewhere I ran across a table of casting numbers and the displacement and year manufactured for slant six engines back to 1960 but I can't find it right now. If I do i'll post the link.
