...actually, I like the brake upgrades, I just think huge diameter wheels look dumb on old cars, but I do understand the need to clear the brakes.

Well looks are subjective but from what I've seen, if the tire diameter is close to the stock diameter then larger wheels look fine. The trick is to find larger diameter tires that fit the bigger rims and that can be hard to do. I've found that on a B body car a 235/55-17 tire works pretty well. If you want something wider in the rear then it gets a little tough to find one that is wide and the correct height. On my car I went with a 315/45-17 tire which was very rare and hard to find. Once those wear out I'm not sure what I'll do next.

True, but you'll never convince me that they look good, no matter what size tire. I think huge wheels are a craze, just like bell bottoms, vans, cheesy random "splash" and pro-street graphics and pet rocks. They attract the gaze to the flashy wheels and away from the really great looking old body styles.

What about 16" steel wheels (body color) with dog-dish hubcaps (and moderately wider rubber (205-215mm))??????

I know the look of wheels is almost all subjective opinion, but I tend to like the look of a 16"-17" wheel on most all the mopars I have seen (except for some of the early a-bodies). The non-subjective part that I always have an issue with is when you put on larger wheels you take away some of the side wall (and flex) of the tire which usually I equate to a loss of ride comfort on the potholey/seamy roads of the greater midwest. I can't imagine driving across I-44, I-70 or even across arkansas with big rim thin walled tires, that may require a trip to the dentist when its all said and done.

Of the pictures I posted two sets were Ford Mustang rims. The 5 spoke rims on my Coronet in the other picture are custom built 3 piece rims from Fikse.
