Doc. Dodge,

I read your posts about the roller cams for the slant six and found it very interesting. I just want to clarify with you that; the only way to get a roller cams is to have one custom made if you can find a "blank"? Is there a company out there (comp, crane, isky etc.) that make roller cams to buy over the counter? I would love to have a roller in my engine and often asked about this but ran into dead ends. Help me out with this info and any else interesting you think might pertain to this subject. Thanks.

The key to doing a "roller" SL6 is getting a steel camshaft "blank" that the roller lobes will grind onto. As of last check, there are no "off the shelf" steel SL6 cams out there. (there are cast iron cam blanks but roller lifters chew these up pretty fast)

I need to give my foundry a call, I have a pattern made to do a steel SL6 cam "blank" but we have not had time to test / de-bug the new casting pattern. Once cast, these blanks would also need some machining.

Doc. Dodge,

Thanks for responding so quickly and for the info.. I guess I'll go with a regular tappet cam for now but make sure when you have something going for the rollers you post a nice big sign. I and the rest of slant six lovers would love to get ahold of these babies. Thanks again.

Yup, there is a need out there but the best news is that I need a few more of these roller blanks and I am tired of paying $500-$600.00 to chop them out of bar stock. ( I just put a flat tappet cam into my latest engine because I am tired of waiting on the foundry)

Be sure I will get the word out as soon as I get a batch done.
