Hello folks,

A friend and I have been discussing setting up to re-manufacture theslant six manifold triangle washers. We wonder if there is enough general interest (no orders!) to encourage us to go ahead with die making. We plan to make them out of stainless steel, probably .250 thick (1/4 inch). It looks to us that the original ones were made on a progressive die: shear the part first and then punch the hole and stamp the curve. We can do this too and if we made about 3,000 or so, cost per single washer would be about 3 dollars. Anyone interested in stainless triangle washers, or are we nuts?

Great idea! I was just the other day thinking of asking these people about this very project.

That sounds kinda too thick, to me. The original early factory triangular washers are too thin (tend to bend), but the later factory ones are just about perfect. With an overthick (0.250") washer, we'd need to look at extra-long studs, which would probably be another custom piece of hardware (and in that case, we'd want stainless!).

Pay careful, close attention to the face contour of the washer, on the side that faces the head. Try to get some new factory washers to model from. If I'm not mistaken, the machined faces are ground(?) at a particular angle relative to the axis of the through-hole, which might not necessarily be 90°.

as my regular parts-seeking program that we've been developing with dan I found a guy who has a big basket full of these triangle washers. Price is AR$6 per unit (like US$2 a piece).

I would be happy to take a "large" quantity off your hands both upon manufacture and in the future. Our Australian Hemi 6 engines also you the same type of manifold retainer....

I would be glad to dicuss this matter further.
