Hello,

I understand that stiffer springs and larger torsion bars improve handling (essentially) by decreasing body roll in turns.

Does a sway bar also work to decrease body roll, or is there some other action going on that improves handling?

yes the swaybar's sole duty is to reduce body roll. adding one is way easier than replacing springs and will give good handling without a huge impact on ride harshness.

A sway bar is way more effective in reducing body roll than stiffer springs.


I tend to like softer springs so the suspension can absorb the bumps (rather than you having to feel every pebble), and let the sway bar deal with body roll.

You also need better shocks at least KYB's

Stiff springing can actually hurt handling if overdone. The suspension needs to be a carefully tuned balance of spring rates, damper (shock absorber) rates, and sway control along with a judicious choice of rubber.

Think supple for suspensions.

You don't want to bottom out, but you don't want it to be like the rice-burners that lower their car, and have the suspension so stiff that the whole car bounces around like a go-kart (and can't get out of a driveway faster than 2mph)..........

And you don't want the 6" exhaust tip either

Yeah, all of my sisters friends are ricers. They have to park at the bottom of our slanted driveway on the street, because there "body kits" and how low the car is.
