Hey all,

The Project V Valiant will be making an appearance with the Tar Heels Sports Car Club (thscc.com) at VIR-full (virclub.com) next weekend. We'll run the "lapping" event as well as the time trials on both days.

The Full Course is way fun and very long. Hopefully we'll have good weather and no car issues. Had a few small glitches at The Rock that we hope will be solid this time. James Longhurst will probably come as well as my buddy (and co-driver) Marc TerHorst.

Hope to see some other Slanters out there.

Lou

Well, we had a short race weekend - cancelled the event after yesterday morning running in the rain @35F. Temps cooled and they got some snow, so they called off the event.

The car was really fun to drive in the rain and was very predictable. Fun hauling the car down from 100MPH before a corner in the wet... The club member I had riding with me just loved the car and kept raving about how well it was set up.

I did get some lap times, although none of them "clean" (no cars to pass). 3:20 was my fastest (3.3mi course), with the fastest car of the morning being 3:07. Most people were running 3:30s and up.

Big thanks to James Longhurst and Marc TerHorst for coming along and helping get the car ready again.

Next outing planned is VIR-North Course on 4/8-9...

Lou

That's got to be a terrific rush!

I really hope I can put together a project like that some year, and I'll know who to call when it's time.

Way to represent Lou

What's next for the project? Sounds like you've got a pretty tight package as it is.

You've got to give us a little more info so we can brag. What kind of high priced sports cars did you outperform?

I can't wait till racing season starts again! :D

Paul,

There was a range of driver ability, but I certainly passed one or more Vette's, Cobras, M3s and other Beemers, Miatas... We never got to the "time trial" so this was just in open laps.

We just installed the triple webers that James Longhurst is lending me. 3.55 rear gears are on the way (3.00 now). Hope to get it painted this spring too. Going to cut more weight out soon. The list goes on...

Lou

Wasn't she a real lightweight to begin with? Haven't you already stripped down to bare? Please don't tell me you are planning on buying high priced aluminum bobbles to make it 5oz lighter.

So even if you didn't quite pass them yet, nobody was close to $5000 faster.

Weight right now should be around 2570lbs w/ full tank, no driver. This year, I hope to get below 2500. Eventual plans may put it as low as 2250. Yes, with some aluminum bobbles, but still way less expensive than a Vette or BMW...
