I'm trying to figure out if my super 225 is the orignal engine in my 64 Valiant Convert.

The number on the head is:

V22 12 062

Does the 12 062 mean Jan 2nd engine #062? I knw that the V22 means 225.

The number on the block is:

2466480-11 or 2466430-11 (the 5th digit is either an 8 or a 3 I can't quite tell).

I can't find this block number in any posts or on the net. Is there any way to tell if this block and head went with this car originally? Can anyone help?

Thank you.

James.

James, The number on the deck surface on the block, near the coil mount is the engine size and date code for your engine. My 63 Valiant has the original engine coded T22 10 12 2, meaning 225 built on October 12, 1962. Yours looks like a 225 built on November 6, 1962. It may have been originally installed that way as a carry-over, or someone put a 63 engine in your 64.

I would say that this is the origional engine for a 64 car. The block number is for the early "3 freeze plug 225 block (2466430-XX) and the "V" in the serial number referrs to a 64 year production engine. (As noted "T" is 63, "A" is 65) I always got a kick out of 65 blocks, they say "A225" like I did not know that?!?

See the SLant Six Block article for more block info.

Doug,

Thank you for the info on the block casting number. All original options on this car are original from what I can decipher. The fender tag shows an SO Number of 1209_5026. Does this mean a December 9th built date? This would certainly coincide with an early block number wouldn't it? Is there any decoder/publication I can buy for my literature collection on this vehicle?
