I am checking out Flatlander Racing, and I see that Demon offers a 2-Bbl that flows 350 CFM. Any ideas on how well this would or wouldn't work on my Dart with a super six intake manifold?

you'd need to run an adapter. it would probably take the same one for a holley 2bbl. may be a good idea to open up the intake to match the adapter plate opening which i think is oval instead of 2 round holes like your intake. it would probably run ok. lou's valiant ran great with his big holley 2bbl, but he spent a lot of time tuning it to get there.

I'm just thinking that I'd like to go with new parts if I can, and if a 4-bbl would be too much, than I thought that the 350 CFM Demon carb would be a good idea. I plan to do a bit of grinding in the combustion chambers, like in the articles section of this site, go with a Crane 252 cam, possibly get the Offy 4-bbl intake and modify that to work with the Demon, and run dual manifolds.

If I do those things, would a small 4-bbl be ok on my car? Because if you take it easy with the loud pedal, don't you only use 2 of the barrels anyway?

Would a 2 1/4" exhaust be a good size, or would 2" be good through a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler?

were you asking about modifying the offy four barrel intake to hold the 2 barrel demon? seems like you could just keep the two barrel intake for that instead.

before I parked it, I was running a holley 4 barrel and clifford intake and headers, with no other mods except dual exhaust with a 3 speed manual.

had no troubles whatsoever with the four barrel. and that was a daily driver in minnesota winters (-40 below) and summers (104). got 26 mpg too.

I strongly suggest you get the correct four barrel intake instead of an adapter though.

Sorry about my first post, I don't actually have a 2-bbl manifold. I meant my car, with a 2-bbl manifold that I don't have yet. Sometimes it's easier for me to talk than to put my thoughts into words.

How big is that Holley 4-bbl you are running? (I'm guessing the 390) Would that be too much for my 170 when I get a Crane 252 cam, a little bit of head work, and dual manifolds to a 2 or 2-1/4" exhaust? I may not even go with the split manifold until the stock one cracks.

I know most everyone will say to get a 225, but I kind of want to be different and stay with the smaller motor. I'm not looking for a rocket anyway, just a nice daily driver with a bit more go.

yes, it was a 390 holley.

(I might actually be going bigger now with the new mods!)

I think you'll be just fine with the 4 barrel and some minor head work. I ran my car personally for 5 years with no head work, and my dad before me with the same set up for about 10 years with no issues. just make sure you match the carb to the manifold (4 barrel carb to 4 barrel manifold, 2 barrel carb to 2 barrel manifold), I am not a fan of adapters in either direction. something is either getting chocked down or wasted.

best of luck to you regardless! and don't worry about having a 170. plenty of folks here have them and love them.

Check to see if this is the older modified by Barry Grant 2300 Holleys or one of the new 2300 version BG castings. BG has had his own 2300 casting for about a year, 350 and 500 cfm versions.
There's a lot of people that like the BG version of the 4150/4160 and 4500, the jury is most likely still out on the new 2300 version.
One thing I can tell you from experience, if you have a problem with any BG carb, don't expect to receive fair and friendly customer service.

I am very happy with my 500 Holley (2300 series 2bbl) carb on an Offy 4bbl intake with adapter. I actually did very little tuning to get it to run great (only main jets). I have run it on several different Slant combos and it has given good mileage and power with minimal effort.

This DOES NOT apply to Holley 4bbls, which I would not use again.

I actually did run across the 2300 Holley 2-bbl, and I think I would go with that as opposed to the Demon because it seems to me that the Demons are more expensive.

With a little head work, the Crane 252 Cam, either the 350 CFM 2300 Holley or the 390 4-BBL, as well as a split manifold, what size exhaust would I be best going with - 2" or 2-1/4"?

I am going to a couple of local parts and exhaust places this weekend to get some prices - I'm pumped that I'll be making my car a little faster as it gets closer to the time when the snow is melted and I can actually drive my car again!!! :D

Due to the restrictions under one 66 Dart, he ran dual 1 3/4"-2" into a common 'fat pipe'/collector, then single 2 1/4" out the back I think.

One thing to note when getting a Holley 2300 for a milder slant six, try to find one that has the 'annular venturies' installed (most Demons I think, and most newer Holley have these)...they cut down slightly on the CFM, but slightly increase throttle response and 'signal' to the carb. I ran one with the early 'economaster' venturies on my '74 Duster and it had more response and mid-range than the BBD.

I would use dual 2" into a Y collector down near the trans X-member, then single 2.5" out the back. On my really built 64 Dart, I have dual 2.25" into single 3" on out.

What adapter are you using on your Offy intake? I've been looking on Summit and the closest I can find is a 4-bbl carb to 2-bbl intake manifold.
