MichB, look you can use BOLD LETTERS ALL YOU WANT. I was just putting in some info. detroit 60 engines are a 4 stroke v 92's were two stroke.the turbos had tiny compressers thats the huffer's job and untill mid90's there was no serious emission testing for off highway motors The point I am saying is this, the speed at which exhaust gas goes thruogh the turbo housing creates the boost. STS makes a turbo system that bolts to the end of the exhaust pipe for the new dodge hemi trucks by the rear axle, not as muh heat there but it make as much power as a medium size roots. look I'm not here to piss any one off but if you cant listen to someone else's ideas and not get mad dont post. isaid in my frist post that I wasnt being rude.

You might try and find a copy of the boost comparison article that Hot Rod did a couple of years ago. They put a roots, centrifugal and a turbo all on the same motor (at different times; duh :D ) and compared the results. The turbo kicked all their butts, even the roots down low. It isn't a perfect test, though. They did say that the boost curve on the turbo might have looked different if it had been in a car and on the street and they weren't able to maintain similar boost levels on each (wasn't a huge difference, but a difference none the less). Either way, it was an interesting article.

For my money, the turbo is the only way to go. With a roots or centrifugal, you have parasitic drag at ALL times, while the parasitic loss of a turbo under cruse conditions is very small. Horsepower when you want it and efficiency when needed. Best of both worlds.

with the port set up on the /6 it is good to use a turbo, but the exhaust manifold would be custom.....pricey. Mr. Norm up in the mid-west put centrifugal's on those demons and I have a article where a guy has a paxton on a /6 duster. Looks like he use a/c brackets but the close-up pic's aren't that good.

Also, you still have the ratio problem. In order for that thing to spin 90,000 rpm (approx., in order to make max boost) when the motor is at 4500, you would need a 20:1 ratio. To make boost at just off idle, I bet it would need a 24:1 ratio. Ever spun the rear wheel on a RWD car (off the ground and in neutral)? Bet it wasn't real easy, and that,s at some mid 3:1 ratio. Try it at 20:1. Your on the wrong side of the lever arm.

My opinion? Add a belt to a turbo, loose hp.

Gotta give him credit for thinking outside the box, though.
