Post subject: Dutra Duals / Offy #5041
PostPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2001 6:14 pm
I'm using the Offy #5041, 2X1 manifold and I notice that Dutra Dual outlet flanges dump out almost directly under the carbs. I'm thinking that this might actually provide some minimal amount of carb heat...or that the bigger, turbo version flanges, once heated up, might provide even more. It obviously couldn't be as efficient as the stock "heat stove" (which this manifold was designed to utilize)...but the new Duals look mighty slick and it doesn't get all that cold here in CA.

Has anybody tried this intake manifold with the "no-heat" version of Dutra Duals and experienced cold weather drivability or cylinder wall "wash down" problems? Doc?

Hi Red

I used that manifold for two winters here in Washington state. I live close to the coast and in winter we get cold rain and in summer we get warm rain. I ran that intake manifold with clifford hedders with no heat going to the intake. The only thing I added was a choke to one of the carb's. This combo started very good and I got pretty good mileage. Later I used this manifold and made a plate for two Holley 2 barrels. This even started better(more fuel when you hit the gas peddal)

Thanks, Dave...that's what I was hoping to hear!
