Well over the last few days I've had the car on a couple of 50 mile plus roadtrips with multiple low boost tests and the car is acting and handling wonderful.
Since my last last post I had to upgrade my cooling system I installed a twice as large rad and engine temps don't exceed 180° even under boosted situations granted in still only running 7psi. Also I installed a diffent shifter I ditched a old B+M I had and put a TCI unit I had lying in a box in the garage. What a huge difference that made the car final shifts the way it should.

And lastly I hooked up my 2 step for my launch control. I think this is coupled with the other changes I've. Made total transform the car with the input active I can bring the rpms up to my desired stall speed and actually hold the car back on the brakes now! This thing leaves hard at 3200 rpm and at 7 psi of boost I can't wait to get it on a sticky surface with the boost turned up.

I don't think my boost controller is working properly I have to get that sorted out before my next track season or I'll have to run a bigger waste gate spring if I plan to up the boost.

Thanks all for the help and insite into the slanted world we live in

Stay tuned
Aaron

Here's some good news for those who have following my build I fixed my boost controller and turned up the boost to 12psi and holy cow what a huge difference in power. I have to do some tuning now that the added boost has raised my afr to boarder line levels. It may be time to add some vent tube extention.
But I'm off work tomorrow so now that I'm actually controlling some boost and don't have to rely on spring pressure I can slowly get this bucket of bolts dailed in.

Also thanks lou for the timing curve its what I've been working with and so far the car likes it

Well I decided to go out and add the. Vent tube extention and I dropped a point on my afr but i may add some jet to it in the morning but I took the car out and I pulled a couple of hole shots and it spun thru all three gears now I have to adjust the boost ramp rate on my controller

Stay tuned

Sweet! Glad the timing settings are working for you. I really need to get my turbo setup into a lighter car, and/or turn up the boost into the low teens...

Lou I can't believe the difference 5psi makes. Heck the car was quick at 7psi and now at 12ps its a beast.
I did a couple of hole shot leaving at 7psi 3100 rpms and a ramp rate of 3psi per second to 12psi on the street and the thing was pulling hard but the car stayed close to redline so I no I had some tire spin. I gotta get this thing down to the track one more time

Aaron,

I thought you had a MegaSquirt fuel injection system on that motor.

Are you running a carburetor? I git so confused.... :(

Bill I messed around with a ms2 in the beginning of the year strictly in a attempt to data log and engine management, but I was trying to control timing with a gm style hei and they don't mix well it can be done but there was more involved then what Iwanted to go thru . So I ended up installing a msd6530 6al-2 programmable unit which works excellent.

I went up three jet sizes in the secondary metering blocks and took the car for a romp and my afr came down another point and ill probably leave where it's at for the time being. The car is every impressive and I can't wait to get it down the track again..

Well with the car running the way it is today might prove to be a good day if mother nature cooperates. It rained all last night but the sun is starting to peek out. I'm working till 3 pm and if the ground dries I might beable to get the toad down to the 1/8 mile track today.
If I can get it down there I think I have some 7second passes in the car.

I'll be. Keeping my fingers crossed

Stay tuned

Aaron

I ended up making down to the track late afternoon and it was overcast and humid but i made seven passes. The first four I couldn't get the car to hook up and ran multiple passes in the nines. Unfortunately I went down to the track by myself so I ended up asking some of the other racers what was happening with the car and they informed me I was spinning bad. So I dropped some tire pressure, and stayed in the box abit longer to try and heat the tires up on the fifth pass I ran 8.3 at 87.38 mph and.8923 reaction. On the last two passes I felt were my best passes but they ran out of timeslip paper....HOW I DONT NO????? but it was late and there wasn't but a hand full of racers left at that point. So I decided to call it a night but i wasn't at my best today and I couldn't get comfortable in the seat. But there always next time

Im hoping this week to get a buddy to take some video of me pulling a hole shot or two so I can see just what's happening with the car
