9/25/22:

2 Weeks ago I rolled the Dice and towed to Clay City. It ended up being a total rainout for the entire weekend. I did get 5 useful Runs Friday Night as week as 3 Passes Saturday Morning for qualifying before the Rain came.

I was able to gather 10 Attendance Points for my efforts.

It also should be noted that I somehow broke the transmission (AGAIN!) on the 3rd Qualifying pass.

the car made a full 1/4 Mile pass with ET within a 100th of the previous run, and then when I tried to come back on the return path (it's a bit uphill after you turn off at the end of the track at clay city). I had no gears, Nothing, no reverse out anything, just park.

Got the car all towed back and up onto the trailer, Got it home, on the lift and pulled the trans. Everything looked pretty good, the last 2 times I had trans issues it was because I was putting things together incorrectly... All of the clutches and steels looked fine, a relief as that means that I guess I could put the trans together correctly. Then I looked at the pump, and yep the nubs for the pump gear drive were gone - Turned into little bits of buckshot.

I have a new Gearset Ordered from A&A Transmission - hopefully it will be here this week, and I will get it all back together again for The Motormile Race in VA, next month!

Fortunately the pump support and the front and rear castings of the pump were in serviceable shape, so hopefully with the improved 4130 A&A gears I will not have to worry about this again.

I am sure!

The gears lasted well over 10 years with hundreds of passes with stresses they were never designed for.

I can't complain.

I also went back to my notes and it seems that I have 4 904 racing converters in stock.

The current one I tried since the trans install last year is the slowest. I found one that I bought off of Mike J a few years back, and have never tried it. Hopefully it is loose.
Otherwise I will have to put my PTC converter back in.

I sent the converter back to PTC to get it fixed because it cracked the neck when the gear broke. Found out what I thought was a PTC was actually an ATI that had been rebuilt at PTC.

Right now I have a TCI in it.

I have another PTC I bought from Howard.

The Midwest I got from you is in John's Barracuda.

Got the New Pump Gears installed in the trans. Trans is All buttoned up, ready to go back in the car today.

I also Decided to replace the front Drum Bushing as there was some metal trash that ended up in there from the Gear shredding event.
The Cam Bearing tool is a good one to use for this removal / install.

Having the Shop Press is Helpful for getting the piston Spring on and Off... Also it's handy to keep a bunch of old Bearings and Races of different sizes for "Press Arbors"

All Lubed up Ready to go back together.. With the A&A Hardned gears in the pump this time.

Old Broken Trans Case is Kept around for the 904 Pump Alignment fixture...

We shall see if any of this garbage does any good.

Yes for Sure. Hope to get to a reasonable 60' like Seymour / Guzzi Mark / Team Green/ Jeff Kendall 1.48s

One can hope and dream and throw parts at it along the way.
:D :D :D :D :D :D
Also Futz'ed with another 3rd member that I Bought from Mike years ago..
Since the Car was on the Lift and Drive Shaft was already out it feels like a perfect time for some gear swappin'

- Found out that I needed to get a 1350 Yoke and the Welded Spiders in the Carrier were no longer welded. Which was prolly good ' Cause I Should not be running welded spiders anyway.
-Ordered a Proper 30 Spl. Spool and Bearings, Crush Sleeve eliminator, and a 10 Spl. 1350 Pinion York from Dr. Diff.
So the project this week is to build the new 3rd member...YAY!

:D

Yes.

That is from years ago when I broke a driveshaft.

I kept the parts for some reason.

I got the New Spool, Bearings, Pinion Seal, Solid Crush Collar And 1350 Pinion Flange all installed in the 3rd Member well as a New Gear Ratio.

Got the Axles Installed, and Filled with Gear Oil.

I Just need to Change the Transmission mount and then install the driveshaft.- The Old Imperial Services Transmission mount t is over 10 years old and it's starting to pull apart.
