Looks like I took a set of 890/891's off and installed another set of 890/891 bars.
At least they're on the correct sides!
Yeah!!! :D Now we are making progress :)

Just think what I could have done with Sunday...... Like drink beer and get in trouble with the wife. Nah. I still had a lot of fun.
On the bright side, the bars I installed were in a lot better shape than the old ones. Adjusted them this afternoon after work, and the adjustment was less than the sagging ones. Put about 10 miles on the car. It doesn't wander quite as badly.

Still, an Alfa Romeo it aint.
Looks like Summit's DCC-5249151 ought to do the trick. I'll hold my breath on comparable handling to a Montreal...

I looked the frame crossmember over along with the Torsion Bar mount, and center brace. No rust. Are there any of these parts that should be hardened for a torsion bar upgrade?

Just for reference, my 0.890" bars from summit were marked 894R and 895L

CJ I never heard of anyone bracing the torsion bar mounts. I know there is a company that makes replacment mounts for cars that were victims of cancer but I believe they are just replacments not beefed up or anything.

Cool,

All the rust on my car was under the remains of the Vinyl top, and under the dash from bad wiper seals. Everything else seems to be in pretty good shape.

Once I talk the wife into it, I'll order some new Torsion Bars.

Starting in '73 the \6 and non A/C 318's got the 890/891 bars. The A/C 318's and the 340/360 got the next size up, which I believe were 892/893.

Got the wife talked into the Dodge 0.920" bars. There was begging involved....AND
I've been good. :shock: Well, at least I think so;

And that's the uh,,, Truth,,,

Went out and played games with the cooling system tonight. How many times is it going to take to flush this poor thing? had to open up the block drain with a pick. Uh oh....
Lots of build up.

Been there done that, took mine out once and it was plugged solid. Make sure you use distilled or RO water next time around ;)

No reason to order the bars from Summit. Looks like your in Halsey OR by your tagline so just pick up the phone and call the parts counter at Miles Chrysler in Woodburn OR. Ken there should be able to get you those bars for a good price. He carries a lot of MP parts right there at the counter.
