Seems to me that if you make the shaft smaller you reduce the area of the oil bushing surface; with the increase load of long ratio rockers I would be concerned about premature wear. If you could come up with needle bearings in the rocker it might be better. As far as performance goes, the guys over at Dodge Truck World put high ratio rockers in the Magnum engines all the time and swear that it makes a lot of difference. But, they usually have put some time and effort into optimising intake and exhause flow first and the Magnum is a more modern design which might lend itself to such teaks a little better than the slant.

just ordered a set of 1.5 roller rockers from cox brothers and they have gone up to 500.00 a set.

So the actual problem with retrofitting a set from a small block would be
the length of the rocker arm itself??

Those are roller lifters/tappets not roller rockers.

So if you can get roller lifters, where to you get the roller cam to go with it, and is there enough oil down there for the roller to work.............
