Quote: No, because I heard that the interior resonance with the 40 series is terrible. I am use to loud noise since our farm truck (90 F-250, 351 Windsor) has straight pipes on it. The exhaust stops right under the passenger side floorboard. At about 60 the exhaust quietens down to a burble but on acceleration it is deafining. But it does get a lot of attention (and tickets).
I want a great sound on the outside but still be able to hear my radio. Ah i see your point. Can't be loud enough for me -Mike |

Like I said, I've compared my particular slant to several other cars, two dual exhaust ones, and for whatever reason, the resonance inside is just hell at that range. Honestly I'm not a pin drop quiet kind of person, but the muffler is so loud you can't even hear the windows whistle. My wife and I can't talk at those speeds, its that bad. It would be fine for a car that doesn't get driven around all that much, but any extended time on the freeway just sucks. MJ |

Is the noise making its way thru the muffler body, then thru the floor boards???????? If that's the case, I'm wondering if heat shields could be placed between the muffler and the floor to act as a sound reflector...... if that works, would a heat shield that has some insulating qualities (like the ones for starters) work even better......... hmmmmm........ |

Not to hijack Jeb's thread, but I'm going to guess that yes, its it resonating through the floor boards and from the back. But I've not really had a good way to isolate that since I'm behind the wheel |
