Thanks for the kind words fellows. Many of you know about the three-year-long process we went through on the "Dartster". This weekend was a great opportunity for Aaron and me to get it out to stretch its legs and show it off a little. The 63 miles from Spring to Baytown was the longest one-way trip it has taken. ![]() I know, I know... big deal. For us it was a big deal. Since this was the first car we have ever restored, I've always had reservations about getting it very far from home, know what I mean? Everything went smoothly and without a hitch. The drive back up IH-45 through Houston to Spring was kind of hairy, though. I don't know how you guys do it, day in and day out. I was a bundle of nerves, once I got back to my brother's house. Man, there are some crazy drivers out late at night. ![]() Now we are talking about how fun it might be to build a drag car. Maybe some bracket racing, nothing insane like "Buzzin' Half Dozen". Well Mike If I can get everything going on my 66 cuda drag project my wife and I will be there next year. We might make ST Louis our first race and then do a bunch of T/T and get down to Houston. It will take us 2 days to get down however, we have friends along the way. Would the ST Louis race be to late for us to commit? Looking forward to meeting all the racers and fans. Thanks Frank |

Nice meeting you, Rick, albeit briefly. But I understand about car issues... Definitely like to hook up at a local show sometime. Like I said, unless something goes tragically wrong in my life, I'm making plans to drive my Swinger down next year for everyone else to beat up on, if that helps the cause any... |

Rick, Randy stopped by to check out Aaron's Sport, and we returned the favor by scoping out his killer 360 Dart Sport. I think Aaron got the racing bug when he saw Randy and Mike Jeffrey make their passes. ![]() I can get my hands on any of several Dusters and a '69 Barracuda fastback (my 1st choice). We've been talking about starting another project, so it might as well be one we can race. ![]() My older son Ryan lives in downtown Dallas. Since several of you guys in the racing scene live near there, maybe Aaron and I could eventually make some trips up there and get some pointers for us beginners. Ryan never cared much for the older cars, but I'll bet he would like getting involved in racing. His buddy up there races at the dirt tracks. What better way to spend time with your sons, huh? Quote: Well Mike If I remember how it works most, if not all, the Mopar shows I've been to let you buy a race/show entry at the gate. So even if you would know until the last minute, they certainly wouldn't turn you away. It's never too late to race with the Slant folks Frank. Everyone I've met has been super! RICK

Here is the pic I took of Mike Jeffrey warming up his "Buzzin' Half Duzzin" before taking it around for his first Saturday run (I think a 10.39). Poor guy in a Lil' Red Express got to see nothing but Mike's tail after the first 30 or 40 feet. ![]() Jerry |

I talked to Mike tonight. He thanks everyone for their kind words here, and the picture. ![]() He surveyed the damage from his ill fated blast Sunday morning. The motor only ate some electrodes off the plugs, but he still hasn't found the source of the trans leak. He said he did at least get the best 1/8th mile pass ever. 60'----- 1.33 660'-----6.09 mph-----108 He said it layed over right at the 660 clock and he shut it off. ![]() I'm jealous, he eats plugs, mine eats pistons. Life just ain't fair. ![]() |

The promoters are having second thoughts about doing the show again next year. They have worked very hard to make this a big event and the weather has hurt them pretty bad the two years they have done it. I think that if they get swamped with emails letting them know how much everone enjoyed it and want them back, they might look at it a little harder at next year. We really do need this kind of event down here. We are a long way from all of the other Mopar events and with the number of Mopars in this neck of the woods, we should be able to get them 1000 cars!!! I am amazed at the number of cars that came down here from way up north! That and I wanna get a look at that Buzzin Half Duzzin car!! How'd I miss seeing it? ![]() Oh yeah...... I was busy helping with the Outsiders program. ![]() |
